31 July 2026 in Ascoli Piceno in the parish "Mums and dads with LGBTQ+ children talk about each other"

There are evenings that just seem like the presentation of a book. Then you look at the poster better and understand that they tell something more.

Friday July 31st, at 8.30pm, at Villa San Pio Spinetoli, a municipality in the Marche region of the province of Ascoli Piceno, will be presented “How much beauty. Mothers and fathers of LGBTQ+ people talk about themselves” (McGraw-Hill Education publisher, 2026.) The meeting will be free, accessible and also translated into Italian Sign Language (LIS).

They will talk about it Luigi and Nadia Merelli of AGEDO Rome, together with Monica Panichi and Giorgio Del Vecchio. AGEDO is the association that brings together parents, relatives and friends of LGBT+ people: people who have often gone through doubts and fears, learning little by little to really listen to their LGBTQ+ children.

The volume, written by Roberto Baiocco, Jessica Pistella and Carlo Terriaca, was published in 2026 by McGraw-Hill Education in a second expanded edition and alongside parents' questions and family stories, it also dedicates space to the experiences of families with trans and non-binary sons and daughters and also to the theme of faith.

That this presentation takes place in a parish structure, with the support of the parish and the diocese, is not a detail. It means that these families can enter an ecclesial space without hiding and without feeling like an out of place topic.

Because, sometimes, all it takes is for a mother or father to start talking to realize how much beauty was already present, even on the days when it seemed impossible to see it.
