7 March 2026 in Rome presentation of the book “Il sale della vita” by Claudio Chiavari
On Saturday 7 March 2026 at 6.30 pm the Antigone bookshop in Rome (via dei Piceni 1, San Lorenzo district) will host the presentation of the novel "Il sale della vita" by Claudio Chiavari, published by La Caravella editrice, with the collaboration of La Tenda di Gionata. An event open to all, conceived as a space for dialogue between literature, faith and real life.
Conversing with the author will be Tiziano Fani Braga, coordinator of the Mosaiko Cristiani Arcobaleno Movement of Rome and volunteer of La Tenda di Gionata, who will accompany the public into the themes of the book and into the questions that many believers are facing today.
The novel tells the story of Giovanni, who grew up between stone walls and sacred silences, convinced that the seminary was his destiny. But when he is sent to a forgotten suburb, certainties begin to crack: the Curia, the faithful and even the past show new and unexpected faces.
In "The Salt of Life", Claudio Chiavari narrates an existence marked by obedience which, sooner or later, must deal with reality. John travels through the seminary, the Curia and the suburbs: places that do not offer easy answers, but open ever deeper questions about faith, identity and the meaning of one's vocation.
It is a novel about disenchantment and about the gaze that changes over time, about the price of loyalty when it comes into tension with concrete life. A text that tells of faith as an experience crossed by doubt and identity as a fragile and constantly moving space, never completely pacified.
Set in the years in which glimmers of renewal often emerged from below in the Catholic Church, the book follows Don Giovanni's journey through poverty, new illnesses, homosexuality, priesthood celibacy and the ecclesial institution, in search of a more human and true pastoral care.
The presentation will be an opportunity to listen to the author, dialogue with the participants and let yourself be provoked by an intense and necessary story, capable of speaking to those who experience faith as a journey, a question and a search.
