Chiesa e persone LGBTQ+. L’Arcidiocesi di Sorrento-Castellamare si confronta su “Affettività e sessualità”
We would like to point out the recording of the meeting for teachers of the Catholic religion of the diocese organized by the Archdiocese of Sorrento-Castellamare di Stabia on 25 June 2024 on "Affection and sexuality: the art of being human“. The meeting, led by Archbishop Don Franco Alfano, addressed the dialogue between the Church and the LGBTQ+ world, underlining the importance of welcoming and spiritually accompanying these people without prejudice.
Among the speakers, sister Annamaria Vitagliano engaged in frontier pastoral care and in the spiritual and pastoral accompaniment of LGBT+ people, she has shared pastoral experiences with LGBT people, a pastoral ministry that is on the frontier, because "the homosexual believer experiences an internal conflict that becomes laceration, since he has to renounce either his own feelings or his Christian community” and highlighted how the Catholic Church must show the merciful face of God.
Don Catello Imperato, as a moral theologian, he reflected on the need for an inclusive moral ethics, far from rigidity; And father Giuseppe Guglielmi, professor of fundamental theology, recalled the importance of a doctrine that is renewed starting from experience.
The Archbishop concluded by inviting those present to become instruments of listening and welcoming, in line with the synodal path of the Church, to announce the freedom of the children of God.
