Dignity and responsibility, a path of spiritual liberation for Christians LGBT+

Reflections by Federica Fasciolo
The rich pastoral experience and the multiplicity of the meetings that Father Pino Piva SJ has cultivated in recent years make the pages of his book "Dignity and responsibility, a path of spiritual liberation for all (ed. The Pilgrim, 2024).
A trace for a spiritual accompaniment, capable of include any identity, in the Ignatian style, with a look of authentic understanding and infinite mercy.
It is the proposal of a journey with homo offenders, a stretch of road to go together, accompanying and accompanied, spending the courage of truth, leaving altr* all the space to express themselves, putting the resources on which to count but also the limits to be taken into account.
A perspective of liberation, in a continuous becoming that is the unraveling of one's existential history, with a respectful approach, made of mutual alliance and trust: a direct dialogue with a brother or sister in faith, recognizing his dignity of children of God and the ability to correspond to his love mature and responsible.
It is the alternation of the weeks that S.Agnazio proposes, in a span of time that embraces the possibility of the entire month of Ignaziano retreat, until the winding of individual days, in a personal path of liberation with themselves, with others, with God, in seasons of life that only grace knows.
Thus, progressive growth stages of growth in the relationship with God, a provident and loving, capable of justice and mercy, are followed, capable of returning personal dignity, until you enter a profound relationship with Jesus in the search for fullness, to live as resurrected.
Each chapter is enriched by biblical songs and indications on prayer that make the text agile and easily usable even by those who, although "not in charge of the works", be eager to understand, to grow, to personally discern their horizon or to reconcile with itself.
But the discernment is also the pastoral one, which finds a specific study in the final part of the book, where Father Pino provides clarifications and useful ideas for a guide to the service and the ministry in the choices of the Christian communities.
A particular sensitivity, a synthesis of faith and life, his, for many years "in the field" with homo -affective people, but also a courageous perspective for the whole Church, capable, "from below", to intercept new challenges, new horizons of proximity and welcome.
