"Here is your mother!" (Giovanni 19: 25-27)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
Mary's motherhood is a gift from the cross, as well as the offer of Jesus as a gift to the world, anticipated by the episode of the presentation, is the result of Mary's obedience to the will of God.
From the Gospel according to John 19: 25-27
At that time, his mother's sister, Mary Mother of Clèopa and Mary of Màgdala were at the cross of Jesus, his mother's sister.
Jesus then, seeing the mother and next to her the disciple he loved, said to the mother: "Woman, here is your son!". Then he said to the disciple: "Here is your mother!" And from that hour the disciple welcomed him with him.
