Jesus Christ was not yes and no, but in him there was the yes (2cor 1,18-22)

Paolo knows that in the community of Corinth there are tensions and that some demonstrate hostility towards him, for which he immediately claims clarity and consistency in his work: called to speak to everyone about his experience of meeting Christ, he can only model his life on that of the one who changed him, say the unconditional "yes" that Jesus said to the Father.
It is a "yes" to a spending without holding anything, without anything to demand in exchange, but with the desire that the communities let themselves be invaded by the same love that the Lord has for each creature, which he corrects because he does not lose the beauty of which he has covered it. Paolo senses the risk of betraying this dream. The danger of considering it an utopia, beautiful but unassailable, presents itself immediately. It is the risk that all power runs, every authority even minimal, that at least some pieces of life feels master.
Perhaps for this reason Paolo concludes the speech with a passionate declaration, a splendid life project for anyone: he is not the masters of the faith of the other but collaborators of his joy.

Brothers, God is witnessed that our word towards you is not "yes" and "no". The Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we announced between you, I, Silvano and Timòteo, was not "yes" and "no", but in him there was the "yes". In fact, all the promises of God in him are "yes". For this reason, through him, our "amen" for his glory rises to God. It is God himself who confirms us, together with you, in Christ and has conferred the anointing, he impressed us the seal and gave us the deposit of the spirit in our hearts.
