“Let not your hearts be heavy…” (Luke 21:34-36)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
The center of the Gospel starts from the heart, a heart that Jesus does not want to be hard, he does not want a heavy heart or weighed down by the slavery of sin: he wants a heart of flesh, free, which can await His coming with joy and hope.
From the Gospel according to Luke 21:34-36
At that time, Jesus told his disciples:
«Take heed to yourselves, that your hearts do not become heavy with dissipation, drunkenness and worries of life and that day does not fall on you suddenly; in fact it will fall like a snare on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
Watch at all times, praying, so that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to appear before the Son of Man."
* Mauro Leonardi (Como 1959) has been a priest since 29 May 1988 and has been inhabited in Rome since then. He spends many hours of his day to make the priest and prefers to build bridges rather than raising walls. For years he has been writing stories, articles, essays and books that revolve around the relationship between man and God. Author of the blogLike Jesus. Abelis (Lindau) is his latest novel. The volunteers of the Gionata project thank him for sharing these reflections on the word with us.
