In Pordenone they attack a disabled gay. Nobody intervenes
Article by Elena Del Giudice from Messaggero Veneto of 12 March 2009
A cold Friday evening in winter, three bored friends, a city available. What to do? "Go and give a lesson to the" Fags "."
And so, in perfect "commando" style, without obviously having the timing, the three of 22, 21 and 43 years old, on January 23 they decided to take a ride to the Bronx, as the Directional District of Piazzetta del Portello is called in the center of Pordenone, where at the night, until some time ago, it was not unusual to meet couples of homosexuals who had chosen this as a place of meetings.
Here, in the heart of the city, violence began. The torturers pushed him off, offended him, sided, all while the boy, who brings the consequences of another violence suffered in 2002 evident when he was almost killed by his former partner, tried to get away.
Solo una donna si avvicina al gruppetto per invitarli a smettere. E allora pare che il più anziano tra i bulletti di paese, le si avvicini poggiandole una mano sulla spalla in un gesto nemmeno troppo vagamente minaccioso.
But in the meantime someone has called 113; The boy, taking advantage of a moment of distraction, managed to get away; The three, sensed the imminent danger, disperse. Upon arrival of the steering wheels in Piazza XX Settembre there is no one anymore: not the victim, not the executioners. But there are witnesses.
Thus began the investigative activity, the agents of the steering wheels first and of the mobile then, coordinated by the manager Massimo Olivotto, collected testimonies, clues, elements useful to trace the identity of the attackers, and also to that of the attack.
Andrea, in fact, once escaped violence, had called his mother asking her to start him because "something had happened". Then, for fear, modesty, confidentiality, he had not wanted to report the incident, to be medicated to the emergency room.
The investigation to get to the managers, also thanks to the help of the cameras of the Municipality, closed quickly, even with the first, stupid, admissions: since they did not know how to spend the evening, they had decided to "give a lesson" to the homosexuals who attend the Bronx. And as an additional justification, they reported "voices" that indicated the presence of a pedophile in the area.
"A cowardly gesture - the Quaestor of Pordenone, Antonio Maiorano called it - with respect to which we carried out our duty by identifying the managers. As far as the reasons are concerned -he added -, I am really of low alloy ». The controversy breaks out. "We remain speechless in front of yet another attack against a homosexual person," Aurelio Mancuso, president of Arcigay, denounces.
"This episode happens in the face of the dramatic absence of social and cultural policies by the institutions, government and parliament in the lead". And from Udine the manager of the gay movement, Alberto Baliello accuses the League: "Rondism and alarmism generate these phenomena-he says-even in a secular territory like the North-East".
