In the Marche with the “Natanaele” group for LGBTQ+ Christians
The Gospel of John (Jn 1, 43-51) presents us Natanaele, a young man who is thirsty for truth, who reflects and prays under the fig tree. Natanaele does not create false expectations, it has a disenchanted look at the world.
But Natanaele is not alone; He has Filippo for a friend who says "come and see" indicating Christ.
Filippo's friendship is that community experience that knows how to bring good news in our life.
Natanaele meets Jesus without expecting anything. Christ surprises him revealing to him that he has already seen him, there under the fig tree, where Natanaele did not expect.
Here then Natanaele feels it is deeply included by this new man, different from all the others. He feels achieved in his most intimate thoughts.
"You will see bigger things" and the open sky, says Jesus to Natanaele, offering him a key to understanding that story that perhaps perceived as the time of closed skies, humiliations, of the silence of God.
The Natanaele group wants to offer this same good news: the opportunity to walk together with all the Christian people LGBT of the Marche, beyond our reticence, to discover that God who knows us deeply, where we do not expect to be achieved, that He wants to open our skies and show us what great things he has in store for us. We are waiting for you.
