The cities where it will be watched
Also this year in May, in the days around May 17th, International day against homotransphobia, biphobia and transphobia, lGBT+ Christians together with many Christian communities in Italy and Europe they will shine a light in the night, through ecumenical prayer vigils and Sunday services to say enough to violence, prejudice and hatred towards those who are simply themselves.
Under the same sky, catholic, waldensian, methodist, baptist, lutheran and many other confessions communities, from italy to Spain in Malta they will join in prayer, supported by the verse: "God does not show preference for people" (Acts of the Apostles 10,34-35), which reminds us that no one is excluded from the love of God, and that every life is worthy, loved, wanted. There is no condition, identity or orientation that can separate us from his mercy. For this reason, as believers, we cannot remain silent.
The vigils want to be prophetic signs which testify to the possibility of a Church that knows how to be close, that listens, that consoles and that wants to be, increasingly, a sanctuary of welcome and support for LGBT+ people and for every person affected by discrimination.
Also this year, the Faith, Gender and Sexuality Commission of the Baptist, Methodist and Waldensian churches with Proud have prepared a proposal liturgy for the vigils, also available in english, for all communities who wish to join in this time of prayer, listening and hope.
During the various vigils it will also be possible to distribute the booklet for free: "TRANSLUCENCE. Stories of transgender faith", created by La tent di Gionata, which collects the profound and courageous testimonies of seven transgender believers. Stories that tell of wounds and rebirths, faith and identity, to request free copies write to: tendadigionata@gmail.com
It's time to watch. To get on the road. To shed light. And will you watch with us?
