“I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth…” (Luke 10:21-24)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit and we are reminded of the exultation of John the Baptist in Elizabeth's womb and the overflowing joy of the Magnificat in which Mary, icon of humility, praises the Lord for the greatness achieved in his Servant. Both John and Mary believed without seeing and this abandonment is that childhood of the heart that the Madonna herself, with her life, shows us as a privileged way to be pleasing to the Lord, to see him, know him, love him.

From the Gospel according to Luke 10:21-24
At that time, Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said: «I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, who hid these things from the learned and wise and revealed them to little ones. Yes, Father, because that is how you liked it. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, nor who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him." And turning to the disciples, aside, he said: «Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it."
