Kairos's Christian gays: "Don't tell us that we have to heal"

Some of them had participated in 2009 in the conference 'The Gospel we received', which took part several Catholic groups, in the auditorium at the church of Santo Stefano in bread (in Florence). Some homosexual Christians in Florence meet under the abbreviation of 'Kairòs'.
They wrote in these days one letter to the director of Tuscany today, the periodical that gives voice to the life of the Tuscan dioceses, to tell of themselves, of what they do, of their expectations.

The letter follows a particular epistolary exchange: in fact, they turned to Pope Francis and was answered by the Secretariat of State with appreciation for the gesture and the words "of spontaneous confidence".
In the letter also the "blessing greeting" by the Holy Father, a ritual formula in these messages but which has been caught by them as a novelty. In the letter to Tuscany today, the members of 'Kairòs' explain that they have been "active for more than ten years in the Florentine diocese and throughout Tuscany: we are young people, adults, men and women, people looking for God, posed questions and of hope. Kairòs is a group of prayer, information and relationship ".
“We write to you about the debate on law against homophobia which has been hosted several times on his weekly, both in his paper and web version: many words, so many speeches ... But would the best thing be listening to those who live in first person these situations? ".

The signatories then describe some situations in which they find themselves: “God created us like this and we have learned to love us, even if many of us have experienced discrimination, violence, insulation .. does not believe that the state should give one Answer also to this discomfort and promote the full development of each person? ". Some letters that you have recently published even doubt the naturalness of our way of loving, while we know that it is not possible to change one's affectivity, you can only choose how to live it. "
This would find confirmation, according to Kairòs, also in the research done by the most by APA (Association of American Psychologists), the World Health Organization, as well as the Order of Italian Psychologists.

Therefore “we feel offended by the fact that in a newspaper like his own, space is given to certain letters in which we talk about 'reparative therapies' and 'healing from homosexuality'. Do you know how much suffering there is behind those so-called 'reparative' methods? Some kids in our group have had the experience of these so-called 'therapies' and, unfortunately, they still bear the signs." Not only would those therapies be "ineffective, but they are dramatic for those who undergo them, and defined as harmful by the orders of psychologists around the world". The letter concludes with the hope for further investigation.

“Neither I nor my newspaper – replies the director Andrea Fagioli – have offended anyone. We simply gave space to some opinions different from those of the Kairòs group, which, in turn, was regularly hosted in the newspaper and on our website. Indeed, following some of their requests we opened a broad debate which found space on two pages of the newspaper. On our part, therefore, no preclusions, maximum respect for everyone and openness to dialogue."
“I only reiterate that in this specific case – continues Fagioli – that is, the debate on the law on homophobia, we risk taking steps backwards and not forwards by prosecuting crimes of opinion, or by ensuring that in the name of the freedom of some it is taken away to others."
