"Do not go among the pagans and do not enter the cities of the Samaritans ..." (Matteo 10: 1-7)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
The power to heal derives from being called around the heart of Jesus, a stronger love than the betrayal that reveals, the twelve, the truest identity.
From the Gospel according to Matthew 10: 1-7
At that time, called his twelve disciples to himself, Jesus gave them power over the impure spirits to drive them away and heal all illness and all infirmity.
The names of the twelve apostles are: first, Simone, called Pietro, and Andrea his brother; Giacomo, son of Zebedèo, and John his brother; Filippo and Bartolomeo; Tommaso and Matteo the public; Giacomo, son of Alfo, and Taddeo; Simone the Canaanum and Judas the Iscariot, the one who then betrayed him.
These are the twelve that Jesus sent, ordering them: «Do not go among the pagans and do not enter the cities of the Samaritans; Rather, contact the lost sheep of the House of Israel. Start, preaching, saying that the kingdom of heaven is close ».
