Listening to LGBT+ Christians, their parents and pastors
When faith and affections seem to clash, it is not easy to talk about it. With us you can do it without judgment
The service that listens to you
LGBT+ people of faith
If you wonder how to keep the Gospel, Church, emotional relationships and your identity together. If you have experienced harsh words, silence, rejection or simply lack a safe place to say “how am i” before God.
Parents and family
If you have discovered that your daughter or son is an LGBT+ person and you wonder how to accompany him. If you are afraid for his future, if you don't know how to talk about it in your family or in the Christian community.
Religious, animators, pastoral workers
If you accompany young people and families and you feel unprepared, in tension between the teaching and the concrete situations you encounter. If you need to share doubts, limits and possibilities of an announcement that does not hurt.

In a few lines, tell us who you are, where you write from and what type of interlocutor you would prefer (parent, LGBT couple, pastor or religious person, entertainer).A volunteer from the service reads your message and suggests a contact person and an interview method: by telephone, video call or, where possible, in person.
Let's arrange a meeting: the interview generally lasts 45–60 minutes. It is free and without obligation: you can stop whenever you want, or ask to be directed to support groups, spiritual paths or, if necessary, to competent professionals.
The interviews are held by:
LGBT+ People christians engaged in ecclesial life;
Parents christians with lGBT+ Children who have personally gone through the journey from disorientation to acceptance;
Pastors, men and women religious with pastoral experience on these issues;
Animators and lay people of Christian communities who know the concrete terrain in which conflicts and possibilities arise.
All the people involved are required to respect confidentiality and share a listening style that puts the dignity of those who speak their story at the centre.
You can tell us about many things including:
Of your relationship with God and with your Church.
Words you have received that have hurt or done you good.
About coming out in the family or in the community.
Of the fear of "choosing" between faith and an emotional relationship.
How to accompany an LGBT son or daughter without losing yourself.
How to live the Gospel without fueling feelings of guilt and shame.
There is no right or wrong theme: let's start from where you are today. This is “I trust you".
If you need to listen we are waiting for you! Write to us at mifidodite@gionata.org
