Article by Alberto of the group Ruah Project of Trieste
On 22-26 January 2014, representatives of 70 LGBT religious organizations met in South Africa to decide on the birth of the Global Interfaith Network, a network of connections and mutual support between LGBT organizations united by the spirit of welcome, help and respect for human rights and spirituality.
Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and interfaith organizations were present.
Many organizations present deal with gender identity as well as faith and spirituality. Some collect documentation on human rights abuses linked to gender and sexual orientation and on religious fundamentalism.
