Translucence
The testimonies collected in the 44 pages of the book "Translucence. Stories of transgender faith"The spiritual and human journey of seven transgender believers who have been able to overcome despair with courage tell us, facing abuses, prejudices and painful marginalizations.
This book, created by the Association Jonathan's tent, it is not only a collection of stories, but an invitation to listen and discover the obstinate and tenacious faith of those who, although despised and rejected, continue to keep their journey of faith.
Alessandro, Cristina, Joy, Ethan, Alessandra, Bruna and Florencia give us precious fragments of their lives: difficult, sometimes dramatic journeys, to find their authentic identity and peace with oneself. Their voices speak to us of a nearby God, friend, who loves each and each as it is and who welcomes without distinctions or reserves.
The book is enriched by the pastoral introduction of Don Andrea Conocchia, a parish priest for some time engaged in the reception of transsexuals, who writes that "I'm quite safe ", reading these testimonies, "that you will surprise yourself from the tenacity in the faith that lodies in many transgender people. And, after being surprised or surprised, you will reflect on things that otherwise you would not have had the opportunity to intercept in the routine of everyday".
In the afterword Letizia Tomassone, Pastora and Theologian from Waldensian, invites us to let ourselves be accompanied by the stories of these people "that do not self -ust, do not base their justice on gender, orientation or sexual identity " and that help us dream «Together a Church that knows how to express the blessing of God and that makes the right relationships sprout."
To complete the publication, the reflections of the pedagogist Alessandra Bialetti, who help us understand these identity research paths with greater awareness.
Translucence is a book that invites us to break down prejudices, to open mind and heart and let us touch by the human and spiritual events of those who have found in their diversity not a condemnation, but an extraordinary opportunity to meet with God and with others.
