A monumental jubilee that does not exclude because we are all children of God
Testimony of Alessandra F., participant in thejubilee pilgrimage of "La Tenda di Gionata and the other associations" (5-6 september 2025)
Monumental. This word belongs to you because it contains the scope of what you have made: Crossing The holy door with your rainbow cross and accompanying it to peter's Tomb.
It was not only a symbolic gesture but a page of living history, written with the strength of faith and hope in the future. I remember our meeting, our steps shared in Trentino, two years ago.
Today your pilgrimage shows itself as much more than an event: it is a testimony that opens new roads, for you and for anyone who has the courage to recognize the beauty of authentic and joyful faith.
Participating in the jubilee pilgrimage of the Christian community LGBTQ+ was a privilege, an unforgettable occasion, an act that has combined courage, joy and hope. In a time when the voice of the ecclesiastical leaders of the Catholic world often sounds silent, controversial or inadequate in front of the unspeakable horrors of the extermination in progress in Gaza and the serious challenges of the present, your community represents for me the only space in which it made sense to live the Jubilee. With you, and only with you, crossing the Holy Door was an authentic gesture, not an empty ritual.
My position in the face of the ecclesiastical system and its apparatus is increasingly critical: for two years testimony and story on the pages of national newspapers the genocide in progress in Gaza, albeit among a thousand difficulties, and I cannot ignore the abysmal distance between the real suffering of the world and the often sterile and empty words, of pragmatic and circumstance, of those who should embody the Gospel, and instead remains silent and deaf.
This is intertwined with my personal experience: a non -aligned life, unconventional choices, ideas that have made me an "integrated misfit".
I have never sold to the clicals and final cloys; I preferred to indulge my nature as a rebellious cognition, attracted by the world and by knowledge rather than by codified relationships.
For this reason I feel naturally close to those who, like you, have always struggled - grace and firmly - to be accepted for what it is: without condition, without prejudice, without exclusions. You have made you monumental the gesture of bringing the rainbow cross to peter's tomb, a Gesture that history will not be able to ignore.
I remember a meeting of years ago, during my lonely journey in the Holy Land, now bloody and stained by the most atrocious of the crimes.
It was a muftì, in front of a Christmas tree, to teach me what no priest of this part of the Mediterranean had ever dared to say: we are all children of the same God, we are all children of Abraham.
On that day, as on this pilgrimage, I felt the truth vibrate that recognizes the other not as a threat, but as a brother and sister.
And if there is still a way to do, we remember that what is missing is not far away: even small children do not learn to walk in one day.
My wish is that the Catholic Church becomes really home for everyone.
Starting from the borders, on the limit of which, every path, small or large, can finally find space to be traveled.
Good path and good wind, towards what still has to arrive!
