Today's guest is a signature already well known to the Gionata project: it is Lavinia Capogna, who has just settled his new collection of poems entitled "A sailor without a compass and stars without " (Pav editions, 2022), already available in all online store. Lavinia reached us for a short chat.

How much did you influence you the being a daughter of art?

A lot of. My father Sergio Capogna was a talented director, unfortunately who died prematurely, and my mother, Giuliana Scappino, a film producer, and indeed the only women's producer since the 1950s as well as Marina Cicogna.

They both loved the cinema very much, of course, but also the other artistic expressions. I found the first books to read, when I was eleven, right in my parents' library.

Filmmaker and writer. What differences are there between these two expressive means?

In reality I think that art is one, and that there are then various ways to express it, such as music or painting etc. etc. And that art is always an act of love for life and freedom.

Literature is expressed through words, as well as poetry and cinema through images, but both are the materialization of an emotion.

Are you talking about your director's business?

Certainly. At twenty -two I studied screenplay with Ugo Pirro, a good screenwriter of many beautiful films of our great Italian cinema. I also studied direction in a school in Rome, and then at twenty -four years I made, as a screenwriter and director, the medium -mounted in Super 8 "Hi, Francesca", and twenty -eight years the film for the big screen "The Wood lamp", who was appreciated by essayists and critics such as Dario Zanelli and Fabio Melelli and by talented musicians such as Andrea Bassa and Francesco Di Giovanni. Both are currently freely visible on YouTube, where they are having many views. I also made documentaries.

Your first collection of poems has just come out. Can you tell us some what is it?

"A sailor without a compass and stars without " It is a collection of poems that begins with the first poem, which I wrote at nineteen years, up to the most recent, and published by the Pav editions. They deal with various themes: hope, love, pain, memory and beyond.

I hope that readers and readers can find themselves in something of them, and that my book can be a good travel companion for them. The well -known poet Grazia Procino kindly wrote a beautiful preface to the book.

"A navigator ..." It's not your first literary work ...

No, I had already published a book of stories from twenty -eight years, entitled "Mr. Mario". In reality the original title was "Stories made of nothing", and in fact this is the title with which it was then translated into French (Histoires pour returns).

The writer Silvia Lanzi wrote a nice review of the book a few years ago. A story, "The girlfriend of Split", had come to a literary prize. I also wrote a novel entitled "The nameless young man", who requested three years of work and that I finally decided to publish for free for those who want to read it On the Mauro Cioffari website, Gayroma.

I have also written many volunteer articles for various Websites, as well as translations from French and English.

Unfortunately you have a very disabling disease, what does this pathology entail?

The me, which would be the English acronym for encephalomyelitis myalgic, is a chronic and incurable physical disease, whose main symptom is a huge lack of physical energy, more other symptoms, including pain.

Unfortunately, it caused me a permanent invalidity, which also interrupted my director as a director (I was preparing another film for which I had written a script). Without having a serious illness it is not "simple", as unfortunately many other people know, but I don't give up.

What are your next projects?

I am writing a new collection of poems and thinking of a prose work.
