"Health to you!" (Matteo 28: 8-15)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
The women who meet the disciples to announce the Risen Christ are like Mary, who runs quickly by his cousin Elizabeth to share the mystery that the Almighty had worked in her. Jesus who comes to them is like Elizabeth who, animated by the Spirit, embraces Mary and calls her Blessed. Jesus' words are like Magnificat and fully realize each of the words of that prayer. The light of the resurrection defeats the machination of the Pharisees, who want to conceal the mystery of a human body that is also God and which has brought humanity to celestial dignity, making us all adoptive children of eternal love.
From the Gospel according to Matthew 28: 8-15
At that time, quickly abandoned the sepulcher with fear and great joy, the women ran to give the announcement to his disciples. And here, Jesus came to meet them and said: "Health to you!" And they approached, embraced his feet and loved him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not fear; Go to announce to my brothers who go to Galilee: there they will see me ».
While they were on the way, here, some guards came to the city and announced everything that had happened to the heads of the priests. These then gathered with the elderly and, after consulting themselves, gave a good sum of money to the soldiers, saying: "Tell you:" His disciples came at night and stole it, while we slept ". And if it ever came to the governor's ear, we will persuade him and free you from any concern ».
Those took the money and did according to the instructions received. So this story has spread among the Jews to date.
