"For the hardness of your heart he wrote this rule for you ..." (Marco 10: 1-12)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
Jesus speaks to us of the initial thought of God without sin, without separations: that of a single flesh and one heart in the heart of the Trinity.
From the Gospel according to Marco 10: 1-12
At that time, Jesus, who started from Cafàrnao, came to the Judea region and beyond the Giordano river. The crowd rushed to him again and again he taught them, as he used to do.
Some Pharisees approached and, to test him, asked Jesus if it is lawful to a husband to repudiate his wife. But he replied: "What did Moses ordered you?" They said: "Moses made it possible to write an act of repudiation and to repudiate it."
Jesus said to them, "For the harshness of your heart he wrote this rule for you. But from the beginning of creation [God] made them male and female; This is why the man will leave his father and mother and join his wife and the two will become a single meat. So there are no more two, but only one meat. Therefore man does not divide what God has joint ».
At home, the disciples asked him again about this topic. And he said to them, "Whoever repudiates his wife and marries another, commits adultery to her; And if she, repudiated her husband, marries another, commit adultery ».
