"Va ', your child lives" (Giovanni 4: 43-54)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
Jesus returns where he left his presence, he returns and comes where he finds intimacy with him. Jesus, for those who ask him with faith, anticipates the gift of resurrection.
From the Gospel according to Giovanni 4: 43-54
At that time, Jesus left [from Samarìa] for Galilee. In fact, Jesus himself had declared that a prophet does not receive honor in his homeland. So when he arrived in Galilee, the Galilei welcomed him, because they had seen everything he had done in Jerusalem during the party; In fact, they too had gone to the party.
He then went to Cana di Galilea again, where he had changed the water in wine. There was an official of the king, who had a sick son in Cafàrnao. He, having heard that Jesus had come from Judea in Galilee, went to him and asked him to get off his son, because he was about to die.
Jesus said to him, "If you don't see signs and prodigies, you don't believe." The king's official said to him, "Lord, go down before my baby dies." Jesus replied: "Va ', your son lives." That man believed to the word that Jesus had told him and put himself on the way.
Just as he went down, his servants came to tell him to tell him: "Your son lives!". He wanted to know from them what time he had started to feel better. They said to him: "Yesterday, an hour after noon, the fever left him." The Father recognized that at that time Jesus had said to him: "Your son lives", and he believed he with all his family.
This was the second sign, which Jesus did when he returned from Judea to Galilee.
