18-19 January 2024 in Milan and Rome let's hold hands against homotransphobia
Press release from REFO+ (Evangelical Faith Orientations and Genders Network)
As REFO+ (Evangelical Faith Orientations and Genders Network) we strongly support both initiatives to reiterate a clear NO to those who exploit faith to condemn homosexuality and all queer identities instead of announcing the Gospel: we are all daughters and sons of God.
We strongly condemn the attacks of these first days of January and we are close to the young victims, aware that episodes of hatred and intolerance - racial, sexist, homobitransphobic - are too frequent in our neighborhoods and in our cities.
Free people make safe neighborhoods. It is not with militarization that security is built, but with respect, inclusion and connection between citizens. We want to be free to walk in our spaces, to dress as we like and to love who we want without fear.
We respond to hate with love, anger and determination.
Double appointment for a collective response:
Saturday 18 January, 3pm
We are located at Piazza Castello, Milan, in front of the fountain, for a great moment of visibility. Let's bring those we love, hold hands and show that we are stronger than hate.
Sunday 19 January, 5pm
We symbolically invade them Stairs of Trastevere, Rome, a public space that has always been lived and loved, to reaffirm the right to live in our neighborhoods with safety and freedom.
We will not stop until hatred is defeated and every corner of the country becomes a place of respect, inclusion and love.
See you in the squares. Together, by the hand, everywhere. 🏳🌈
