"Why does this generation ask for a mark?" (Marco 8: 11-13)
Biblical reflections by Mauro Leonardi*, priest and writer
If you ask Jesus a sign by discussing with him, testing the Lord, Jesus moves away, because faith needs love and humility.
From the Gospel according to Marco 8: 11-13
At that time, the Pharisees came and they began to discuss with Jesus, asking him a sign from heaven, to test him.
But he sighed deeply and said: "Why does this generation ask for a sign? In truth I tell you: no sign will be given to this generation ».
He left them, went up on the boat and left for the other shore.
