Reflections of the group Mosaiko, Christians LGBT+ from Rome
On May 17, 2023 the group of Christians LGBT+ from Rome, Mosaiko, will participate in the hearing of Pope Francis, in St. Peter's Square.
It was thought of this date that commemorates the day for overcoming homophobia with the desire to symbolically meet the whole Church.
In fact, the group presents itself to the Church with the desire to contribute to making the steps that the Church has made and is making official and truly tangible.
We present ourselves with some stories of exclusions and to symbolically ask to walk with those who feel judged, relegated to the margins, seen not as people but as sinners so that in all corners of the world, the true dignity of homosexual people can be recognized, in respect Of all sensitivity, even in the places where it is still a crime to make yourself visible, to affirm your orientation and your gender identity.
During this precious meeting we will bring the wounds of the 156 victims of homotransphobia to Italy, which occurred from January 2023 to today (source homophobia.org) and we will represent the many mistreatment, also through attitudes of exclusions, where the Church has often had homertic attitudes and not in line with the Gospel message.
We will present ourselves with feelings of conciliation, soliciting greater encounters for a dedicated journey, inclusive so that everyone can feel the son of a church that welcomes not for what we should be, but for what we really are: Christians and witnesses of the same Gospel, in which everyone With one's identity, one's orientation and individuality can live in transparency and truth.
The Mosaiko Christian group LGBT+ in Rome will testify with simplicity through some members of the group their journey of faith that leads to the Roman parish of Santa Maria Margherita di Alacoque in Tor Vergata, and with Don Angel Luis Alba Leon who is accompanying us from some Years showing us, even in Christian practical life, an open, renewed and inclusive church in charity towards others.
