On April 5, 1972 the first demonstration against homophobia in Italy was held in Sanremo in Italy
Sanremo 2022 Committee "A community on display"
Perhaps not everyone knows that Sanremo was the scene of the first public event against homophobia in Italy, now considered the event from which the homosexual liberation movement was born in our country.
It was April 5, 1972 when about forty between men and women presented themselves in front of the casino, home of the international congress of sexology with signs (including "Psychiatrists, we came to care"), shouting slogans.
The associations arrived in Sanremo from all over Europe to make their voices heard. It was defined "The Italian Stonewall", the first event in Italy against homophobia. Others consider him the first national "gay pride", to show homosexual pride.
Arcigay presents the city of Sanremo an exhibition and a cycle of events to celebrate fifty years from the event of 5 April 1972. On the occasion of this recurrence so important for the LGBTI+ Italian movement, Saturday 9 April 2022 will be held The first pride of Sanremo!
