The federation of evangelical churches in Italy is 'for the recognition of civil marriage between people of the same sex'

The Council of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy (FCEI) has joined the appeal "for the recognition of the right to civil marriage between people of the same sex as a principle of equality" proposed by the "Yes I want" committee.
"Despite the complexity and diversity of the positions expressed by the churches member of the Fcei, we believe we want to join the appeal, in the framework of the defense of the secular state", is what the Councilors of the FCEI write to the promoters of the appeal.
And they continue: "Specifically we do not believe that the state must and can model his family policy on the dictates of Catholic morality, and we affirm the equality and equal social dignity of every citizen and citizen, as sanctioned by the Constitution. In this context we prefer not to approve civil unions between people of different sexual orientation to heterosexual marriage, but we support the right of people to create constraints and bonds responsible and legally recognized with those they love ”.
The Constitutional Court, which should have been pronounced yesterday, March 23, on the constitutionality of some rules on civil marriage, postponed the sentence to April 12th.
The hope of the promoters is that it can make a distinction between religious marriage and civil marriage and affirming that civil marriage between people of the same sex is not an ethically sensitive issue, but simply a fundamental right of the person who cannot be denied.
