Live the trans-physicist on the transition path of our children
Testimony of Elena and Maurizio, parents with a transgender son of New lives, network of Christian families in transition
As parents of a transgender boy in this Lent 2022 we are experiencing a very tiring period (desert time), full of anxiety, concerns, problems that are resembled, prospects that seem gray.
We therefore feel the need to go up to the mountain (ascension from the labors) to pray in intimacy with Jesus (in light of the Scriptures), so that Jesus can show us his true face: full of light and love, the face of a God who loves us ! A merciful God, who covers us with his shadow, who makes us feel loved children and who illuminates and makes sense of our sufferings.
This beauty transfigures us, that is, it makes us more, more serene, and consequently capable of transmitting light: "And all of us, with an uncovered face, reflecting as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, we are transformed into that same image, of glory in glory, according to the action of the Spirit of the Lord"(The letter to the Corinthians, Cap 3, Versetto 18)
In this moment of intimacy Pietro says to Jesus: "It's nice to be with you". And in our experience as Christians we have understood and had experience of the importance of moments of daily prayer (illuminating our life in the light of the word) and moments of retreat/meditation.
Moments that in this tiring period must accompany us and help, prayer is an anchor and Jesus our rock.
This passage also suggested a reflection on the transition of our children, understood as a transfiguration (trans-war): even our children must find their true self (rebirth as a new man/woman!), From a physical and spiritual point of view , to get to transfigure (from the darkness started to tear from coming out, to get to their true face), managing to find each one the right balance point ... his goal (transgender or transsexual).
We in these "little ones", in these fragile and suffering children we see Christ. And let's try to see them in their true face, beyond the shields, the walls, the angry .. this makes us see their beauty!
Beyond the name they choose, original clothes, challenges etc ..., we see the people who are and this gives us the strength to convey that light to face the labors.
In conclusion we seem to have understood that we can have a light that derives from our transfiguration: seeing Jesus in his true face (the beauty of Jesus) and seeing the beauty of these kids.
In this way, thanks to this "transition of the heart" that we parents have to face, we find the strength to go on and to accompany them.
We can then face the efforts in another light, without victimization but with a spirit of beauty, to say "it's nice to be with you son"!
