Love, family, polyamory and Christmas thoughts
Alberto's testimony
Every year, the arrival of December gives me a particular warmth. Maybe it's the idea of spending time with family, or maybe that soft light that seems to caress everything during the shorter days.
In our house, Christmas is a true collective celebration: the opportunity to experience our being a family, all together, with slower rhythms and intense moments.
This morning we opened the box of decorations. Inside are the baubles we have chosen over the years, one for every Christmas spent together. For example, there's the house-shaped one that Marco bought when we moved into the current house, or the transparent one with the little moose inside and paper snowflakes inside, that Alice bought.
Or the one with the glitter that the kids chose last year. My mother brought a new one again this year, with a handwritten message: “Christmas is love”.
Decorating the tree is a true ritual. Marco always takes care of the lights, I like watching him while he works on rigging the cables, Alice on the other hand is the garland specialist, and then there are the little ones who compete for the best position for their favorite decorations.
Sometimes we laugh so much that we forget what we were doing. This year, while we were working, Giulia proposed a new game: write a message for each of us to hide among the branches. We will read it on Christmas morning.
We also like to prepare for meetings with friends. We are already planning an evening with hot chocolate and homemade biscuits. In the meantime, on our "to do" list there are also the letters that the children want to send to Santa Claus. It doesn't matter that some of them no longer believe it, it's a habit they can't break.
I too would like to ask Santa Claus for something, not to have to hide in front of some friends that I love Marco and Alice, that we love each other... maybe I'm too old for Santa Claus, but not for the courage, who knows, maybe this time it won't be the right one .
Because Christmas with the family is beautiful, of course there are many of us, and it's all a bit chaotic, but it reminds us every day what it means to be together.
