Raise your head, liberation is near
Reflections by Luigi Testa* on the Gospel of the first Sunday of Advent
Rise up and lift your heads, because your liberation is near (Luke 28:21).
Your name is יֵשׁוּעַ, God saves. If there is nothing to save, you are not Jesus to me. If there is nothing in me waiting to be liberated, it is useless for me to wait for this Advent too.
But no: you come because there is something in me from which I must be saved; there is something in me from which I must be freed.
Maybe a fear; perhaps a ghost; maybe a connection. Maybe there is a part of me that is waiting for Someone to save her, to look after her, to take charge of her, to lift her up.
Help me these days, sweet Lord, to understand what part of me is waiting to be saved, so that I can bring you right away right there when you arrive with your tenderness as a Child...
