EuroPride Rome. World Premiere of the movie “Taking A Chance on God” (June 6, 2011)
Monday, June 6, at 20.30, the Pride Park in Rome will host the world premiere of the documentary film “Taking a Chance on God” (italian: “Scommettere su Dio”) by the American director Brendan Fay.
The film tells, in a touching and true way, the life of John McNeill, now 85yo, a theologian and former catholic priest, a pioneering advocate in movement for LGBT rights and founder of the Association “Dignity” which welcomes all gay and transgender catholic people in Northern America.
John McNeill writes: “Young GLBT people all over the world need to hear a consoling message that liberates them from false shame and guilt over who they are, a message that clearly proclaims the message of God’s love for them! I hope my documentary can prove to be a giant step in that direction.”
The premiere of “Taking a Chance on God” will take place June 6 at 20:30, in space “Events” of the Pride Park, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II in Rome (see map).
Both John McNeil and the film’s director, Brendan Fay, will be present.
This witness will be given by groups of Italian and European Christians that will be present, for the first time, at Europride in Rome …
The event was organized by the group Nuova Proposta from Rome together with Progetto Gionata, the Italian Forum of Christian Homosexuals, with the contribution of Dignity, the LGBT movement of Catholics in the United States.
