Prayer vigils IDAHOBIT 2021. Will you join us?
Like every year since 2007, over several days leading up to 17 May (International Day Against Homo-, Bi- and Transphobia, IDAHOBIT), LGBTQ+ Christians in Italy and Europe, along with their parents and their faith communities, will organise vigils, prayers and services. These events will be underscored by the Bible verse “Love one other, as I have loved you” (John 15:12).
The hope is to put an end to homo-, trans- and biphobia, wounds caused by the hatred and prejudice against people that are just trying to be as God made them.
Once again Christians from different communities (Catholics, Waldensians, Baptists, Methodists) and several countries (including Spain and the Netherlands) will gather together, in person or online, and pray so that our communities become ever more sanctuaries that welcome and support LGBTQ+ people and all who are discriminated against.
Such was the hope and message from the Italian conferences of Methodist, Evangelical, Baptist and Lutheran churches in 2017.
“The joys and hopes, sadness and concerns of all people, especially the poor and all who are suffering, are the same hopes and joys, sadness and concerns of Christ’s disciples” (Gaudium and Spes, 1965).
